After 28 years at Unique Concepts, we are honored to celebrate the retirement of Lynne Leach.
Unique Concepts was founded in 1994 by Lynne’s husband, Fred Leach. In those early years, Lynne supported the business from the sidelines while balancing a full-time job and raising two children. Not long after, she stepped into a full-time role and went on to dedicate nearly three decades to helping grow the company into what it is today.
When Fred retired in 2016, Lynne and her business partner, Greg Taylor, became co-owners of Unique Concepts. Together, they’ve built on the foundation Fred created, continuing to grow relationships with clients and strengthen the company’s reputation in the woodworking and design community.
Reflecting on Her Time at Unique Concepts
Over the years, Lynne has worn many hats – supporter, leader and trusted partner to clients across industries. While she modestly says she’ll “have to think about” her proudest moments, her impact is clear: she helped create a company that thrives on collaboration, craftsmanship and long-term client relationships.
What she says she’ll miss most isn’t just the work itself, but the people.
“Being part of such a creative company, and of course, seeing our awesome clients on a regular basis,” Lynne said.
Looking Ahead
Although Lynne is officially retiring, she won’t be stepping away from the community she loves. She plans to continue supporting the Carolinas Chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), a group she has long championed.
She’s also looking forward to a little more freedom in her days.
“I’ll stay busy, but I’m looking forward to doing what I want, when I want,” Lynne said.
Words of Gratitude
Reflecting on her career, Lynne shared her appreciation for the people who have been part of the journey.
“I’ve enjoyed being part of this company and the industry, and I feel privileged to have gotten to know so many great people and organizations over the years,” Lynne said.
Passing the Torch
In planning for the next chapter, Lynne and Greg chose Marc Britten to take the reins at Unique Concepts. She has enjoyed introducing Marc to clients on what she affectionately calls her “farewell tour.”
“Greg and I both felt that Marc was the best candidate to take over our company, and I’ve enjoyed being able to introduce him to our clients,” Lynne said. “Marc values relationships with clients and vendors, and we feel that he can do a lot to make the company run more efficiently.”
With Lynne and Greg’s support, Marc steps into his role with a strong foundation and a bright future ahead for Unique Concepts.
A Legacy to Celebrate
Lynne has left her mark on the company, the industry and the Wendell business community. Her creativity, leadership and kindness will continue to influence all of us.
From all of us who have had the pleasure of working with Unique Concepts: thank you, Lynne, for 28 incredible years. We wish you all the joy, freedom and adventures that retirement has to offer – you’ve more than earned it.
Here’s to doing what you want, when you want – and we hope you enjoy every minute of it. 😀
